DHS Students:  Any student interested in enrolling in Regular Weight Training or Advanced Weight Training for the Fall of 2010, must fill out an application and get it to Mr. Crumpacker no later than Friday, Feb. 26, 2010.  Pick-up an application from the attendance desk in the main office, the counseling center or any P.E. instructor.                   02-26

Badminton lovers:  Seniors challenge the freshmen.  Freshmen will probably beat you but, hey, you can take it.  The big gym will be open on Tuesday nights starting in March.  Bring a friend, classmate, make-up PE days.  Challenge your teacher to show up and try to beat you. Students, if you drive to school please listen carefully.  Effective Monday, March 1st, you will not be allowed to park in the south parking lot in front of the school offices and gyms during school hours.  This parking lot is strictly reserved for faculty, staff, and visitors during school hours from 7am – 3pm.  If you park here your car will be towed away at your expense.  Please park in the student parking lot on the west side of campus.  Also if you did not know, you must register your vehicle with the school and obtain a parking permit at no cost from Mrs. Echeverria in the administration office.  The parking permit must be visible in your car when parked at school.  Thank you.  02-26

Applications to run for ASB President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are now available in Mrs. Jeffreys’ room, C-208. They are due next Wednesday March 3 by 12:30 p.m. To serve in ASB you do need prior experience in Leadership, BUT class elections and appointed Leadership position applications are coming soon! Kudos to the over 200 students who applied for the AP/Honor English courses!  The 2010-2011 AP/Honors English acceptance lists will be posted after school outside Mr. Miller and Ms. Walsh’s doors.  If you have been accepted or waitlisted, you will need to pick up and complete the Letter of Intent form and return it by Friday, Feb. 26.  The Letter of Intent form can be picked up in Mr. Miller or Ms. Walsh’s rooms.                02-25

This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals with "outstanding leadership, scholastic merit, interest in the community and government, character, honesty and cooperativeness”. Attention students who are interested in English 10 Honors or AP Literature and Composition classes next school year: If you are in English 9 currently and wish to be considered for Honors English 10 next year, you must take the English 10 Honors placement exam!  If you are a sophomore or junior who would like to be considered for AP English next year, you must take the AP Literature placement exam!  All Honors/AP placement testing will happen in Ms. Walsh's room C203 on the following days after school next week:
 Tuesday, February 2nd @ 3:15 pm.
Wednesday, February 3rd @ 2:45 pm.
Thursday, February 4th @ 2:45 pm. 
You only need to come to one day of testing.  Doors will close 15 minutes after the final school bell rings, so be on time! If you have any questions ask your current English teacher or Ms. Walsh!                 02-01

Students, the Young Americans for Liberty will be hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary “Why We Fight” on Thursday, January 28th at 3:30pm! This event counts for political service hours, seniors! The screening will be held in the Theater and will explore questions like, “Why did we invade Iraq?”, “What did Iraq have to do with terrorists?” and “Is there such thing as an end to the war in Afghanistan?” Come and watch this riveting documentary!          01-28

The California High School Exit Examination will occur next week on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd   and Wednesday, Feb. 3rd   for 11th and 12th graders who have yet to pass this exam.  Students who will participate in the CAHSEE will receive a pass from their 1st period teacher.  Keep this pass until the day of the exam.  On the day of the CAHSEE these student will report to the Multi-purpose room at the beginning of 1st period (You will not go to your 1st period class).  You are required to bring a photo I.D. and two No. 2 pencils.  If you believe that you still need to participate and did not receive a pass, please see Ms. Moody-Perkins on Monday the day before the CAHSEE takes place.     01-27
