I graduated from the University of California, Davis in 1986 with a BA in history.  I received my teaching credential from National University in 1988.

I did my student teaching at Davis Senior High School in 1988.  I taught in the Los Angeles area for two years at Coutin School.  I then spent one year substitute teaching in the Davis and Woodland school districts.  Next, I spent 9 years teaching in the court/community school program of the Yolo County Office of Education at Midtown School in Woodland, CA.  I then came to Dixon Unified School District and have been teaching sixth grade at Tremont and then Gretchen Higgins since it opened.

Growing up an Air Force Brat I traveled widely and as I traveled I gained many different interests.  I gained an interest in history at an early age.  My love of history has been a life-long passion.  I am particularly interested in ancient history, U.S. history and military history.

My interest in history led me to an interest in making models.  I made my first model plane at about age six and I"ve been making various model such as planes, tanks, ships and figures ever since.  In fact, I compete in model contests (as far away as Chicago even!) regularly and have even published a few "how-to" articles in modeling magazines.

My interest in models led to my interest in art.  My art experience was as a late bloomer but, I enjoy drawing, painting and sculpting.

Another of my main interests is sports.  I have been playing baseball or softball since I was 11 years old.  I played 2 years of varsity baseball in high school and one year of college ball at American River College.  Go A's!  And although I do believe baseball is the best game ever invented, I do like pretty much any sport.

I have two amazing children; both are in college.
